Pupil Leadership

At Ashford CE Primary School we believe in creating a pupil leadership culture where children take on key leadership roles and get their voice heard. We want our children to be actively involved in school improvement so that we are moulding leaders of the future so that they ready for the next steps in their education, ready for work and ready for the world.

The aim of the various pupil leadership roles is to enable children to take on leadership responsibilities within the school, ensuring their voices and opinions are heard and acted upon. Through our curriculum, we actively encourage children to challenge, discuss and debate issues which are important to them. Our children feel safe to share their opinions and viewpoints. This is gathered through pupil voice surveys and learning walks.

Our Pupil Leaders are trained to:

  • Work alongside the staff in making key decisions
  • Share opinions and ideas to improve teaching and learning
  • Support other pupils in key areas of the school

Examples of pupil leadership roles at Ashford are:

  • House captains
  • Sports captains
  • Worship leaders
  • Arts ambassadors
  • Play leaders
